CHICAGO TRAUMA, EMDR & SOMATIC THERAPY
Healing Begins When You No Longer Have To Navigate Life Alone.
At Soma & Ser, I offer trauma-informed therapy for individuals and couples in Chicago and throughout Illinois, helping you reconnect with yourself, your relationships, and your body through EMDR, somatic therapy, and attachment-based care that supports lasting healing.
SOMA / somatics, the body • SER / to be, a state of being
THE HEART OF MY WORK
Sometimes Understanding Why Isn't Enough.
One of the things I hear most often is,
"I know why I feel this way...I just don't know how to change it."
Insight can be incredibly powerful, but real healing doesn't happen through insight alone.
Together we'll explore the protective patterns that once helped you survive, gently reconnect with your body, and begin creating new ways of relating—to yourself, your emotions, and the people around you.
My goal isn't to simply help you understand your story. It's to help you experience it differently.
SERVICES
Therapy Designed to Help You Move Forward.
Every person's story is different, which means therapy should be too. Together we'll create an approach that fits your goals, your experiences, and the way you heal best.
Individual Therapy
Trauma doesn't stay in the past. It shapes how you see yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. Together we'll help your nervous system feel safer, process painful experiences, and reconnect with parts of yourself that carried you long ago.
EMDR Therapy
Sometimes insight isn't enough. EMDR helps your brain process experiences that continue to feel emotionally stuck, allowing your nervous system to move forward without feeling pulled back into the same painful memories again and again.
Couples Therapy
Healthy relationships aren't about avoiding conflict. They're about learning to understand one another. Together we'll strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and create healthier patterns that help you feel more connected every day.
WHAT I CAN HELP WITH
You Don't Have To Fit Your Experience Into A Box.
You may know exactly what you want to work on, or you may simply know that something in your life doesn't feel the way you want it to. Our work can make space for whatever is bringing you to therapy.
Trauma & Past Experiences
Process experiences that continue to affect how you feel, respond, connect with others, and move through your life.
Attachment Wounds
Understand the patterns that shape how you connect, trust, and feel secure in your relationships.
Relationship Concerns
Work through recurring patterns, communication challenges, disconnection, or difficulty feeling close to others.
Sex & Intimacy Concerns
Explore concerns around intimacy, desire, connection, vulnerability, and feeling comfortable in your relationships.
Anxiety & Overwhelm
Find support for racing thoughts, overthinking, worry, perfectionism, or feeling like you can never fully relax.
Depression & Disconnection
Make space for feelings of sadness, numbness, low motivation, or feeling disconnected from yourself and your life.
You don't need to have the perfect words for what you're experiencing. We can figure that out together.
MEET ISABELLA
Hi, I'm Isabella.
I became a therapist because I believe everyone deserves to feel connected—to themselves, their body, and their relationships.
As a queer-identifying Latina therapist, creating an affirming, culturally responsive space is one of the most important parts of my work. I want every client to feel respected, understood, and accepted exactly as they are. Outside of work, you'll usually find me exploring Chicago with my two golden retrievers, Theo and Benny, iced coffee in hand, or Olympic lifting—a hobby that's taught me a lot about patience, resilience, and showing up even when growth feels uncomfortable.

MY APPROACH
Therapy That Honors Both Your Mind and Your Body.
"Real healing begins with understanding, compassion, and curiosity."
Healing isn't about fixing what's "wrong" with you.
Many of the patterns that feel frustrating today once helped you survive. Together we'll take the time to understand those protective responses with curiosity rather than judgment, creating space for healing that feels both meaningful and lasting.
My work integrates EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic therapy, and attachment-based approaches because lasting change happens when healing includes both the mind and the body. Every treatment plan is personalized, collaborative, and guided by your pace—not a predetermined timeline.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Common Questions.
-
You don’t need to be in crisis or have everything figured out before starting therapy. You may simply know that something isn’t working anymore, or that you’re tired of feeling stuck in the same patterns. Therapy can give you space to better understand what’s happening beneath the surface and begin creating change that feels meaningful to you.
-
Yes! I accept most Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) PPO and Aetna PPO plans. Coverage can vary depending on your specific plan, so I recommend confirming your benefits before beginning therapy. We can also discuss insurance and payment during your initial consultation.
-
Yes. I offer both in-person therapy in Chicago and virtual therapy throughout Illinois. If you're hoping to meet face-to-face, you're not alone—many people find comfort in having a dedicated space outside of home to slow down, reflect, and do this work together. If meeting virtually feels like a better fit for your schedule or comfort level, online sessions can be just as meaningful. Together, we'll choose the option that feels right for you.
-
The consultation is a chance for us to talk briefly about what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’re hoping to work on, and what you’re looking for in a therapist. You’ll also have time to ask me questions and get a feel for what working together might be like. Most importantly, we’ll decide together if it feels like a good fit.
-
Most clients begin with weekly sessions so we have the consistency and momentum to really get into the work. From there, frequency can change depending on your needs, goals, and where you are in the therapy process. We’ll talk about what makes the most sense for you.
